Triple Light Head Adapter

The triple light head adapter or in proper long description fashion the “Selens Flexible Universal 3-Way Hot Shoe Mount Light Stand Flash Bracket with Umbrella Holder”. First off the cost of this unit is a perfect mix of eating your favorite pie and ice cream together. If you shoot weddings, events, and outdoor portraits the portable value that it provides until you can afford something better is perfect plus.

BACKGROUND
Today, hot shoe flash heads can be bought rather cheaply. Some sell for as low as 30 bucks. So when the value of the triple head being only 14 bucks added with the cost of getting three flash strobes it is a no brainier. It is also a great way to get started in photography without knocking a deep hole in your back account.

REAL WORLD APPLICATION
Now on to the good part, the use of the triple light head is grand to say the least. I will first focus on out door photography. Most photographers know about over powering the sun and having enough flash power to so called do so. With one hot shoe strobe the power is not always as great to get enough light in some situations. To that effect comes in the use of multiple strobes to give more light power. Add in high speed sync and you have a perfect setup to do outdoor portraits.
One thing that makes this adapter shine is the ability to trigger your flash heads as one unit. I have used this setup in many situations and places. It is so portable that I use it more than my plug-in mono-lights for indoor studio portraits. When it is used for a wedding setting the setup time is great if you don’t have an assistant. I would recommend getting a set of triggers that can high speed sync. All you need with this adapter is one receiver and trigger because the adapter has a 3.5mm trigger interface.

CONCLUSION
So, in close I would recommend this to any starting photographer. The adapter is not perfect, there is an issue with how it threads down to a light-stand. I also had the issue with my unit. I simply took it apart, it is very easy. Upon inspection I saw what it needed to be reinforced. It was simple and fast super glue around the bolt to hold it better. There is also two ways to mount the adapter as well. The second one being by just letting it sit on the mounting pole by itself without threading it to the light-stand. All in all it is a great value to pick up. And hey go out and shoot something, because cameras are not meant to be in bags.

The portraits below are examples from using the adapter.
